Fighting One of Society’s Leading Causes of Death: Cardiovascular Diseases – Together with Our Client

2023-12-04
Our agency has taken on a major public health challenge. Cardiovascular diseases pose significant health risks across Europe and Hungary, accounting for 37% of all deaths in Europe and an alarming 49% in Hungary. Despite these high mortality rates, recent research reveals that too few people undergo preventive screenings—yet early detection and timely treatment can be life-saving.

Raising awareness about cardiovascular health is a key priority for Novartis, and this autumn, with our support, the company launched a nationwide screening program in collaboration with the municipalities of Székesfehérvár, Győr, and Szeged. At these free screening events, finger-prick blood tests were conducted, revealing that nearly 40% of participants had elevated cholesterol levels, indicating the need for further medical evaluation. Across nine sessions, more than 1,000 Hungarian residents underwent cholesterol screenings, with almost 400 individuals identified as having high cholesterol. Those affected were referred for venous blood tests for more detailed results. To date, nearly 70 people have completed this follow-up examination, and 14% of them have already been placed on lipid-lowering therapy. These findings underscore the critical need for similar public health initiatives and increased screening awareness. FleishmanHillard Café not only facilitated media relations but also played a key role in coordinating efforts with local municipalities, ensuring the success of this impactful program.
