The OTP Self-Care Index Survey Conducted for the 12th Time

For the 12th consecutive year, OTP Bank has assessed the savings habits of Hungarian adults aged 18 to 70 who hold a bank account. The OTP Self-Care Index, developed in 2011 in collaboration with the bank’s experts, has become a key tool in understanding financial planning behaviors in Hungary. We are proud to support this initiative—not only in conducting the research but also in communicating the findings—providing valuable insights that inform both public discourse and OTP Bank’s strategic communication.
The latest survey was conducted in September 2022 through face-to-face interviews, with the results and key takeaways presented in November at a press event.
Findings revealed that, despite economic challenges and uncertainty over the past year, the proportion of people with savings and long-term financial plans has only slightly decreased. The index score remained at 37 points, signaling a halt in the upward trend observed in previous years.
The results were analyzed by Domokos Takács, Managing Director of OTP Bank’s Banking Relations Division; Csaba Nagy, Managing Director of OTP Pension Fund; and Tamás Attila Kovács, Managing Director of OTP Health Fund. Following the panel discussion, attending journalists had the opportunity to engage in an informal Q&A session.
